FC Barcelona to Host Inaugural Game at Renovated Camp Nou this Saturday
Barça revealed they are set to host at the partially upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Bilbao team in the Spanish league over two years since relocating for construction to commence.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited though over 45,000 attendees can be present under the licence granted. After final construction, the stadium’s capacity will reach almost 105,000 spectators, increasing from the former 99,000. Barça announced recent additions comprise an updated entryway for the team along with upgraded changing facilities.
Stadium Testing
The club conducted a public practice at the Camp Nou on 7 November. The club said they are seeking authorization from European football’s governing body to play their next home Champions League game facing Eintracht next month in the renovated venue. Previous fixtures took place at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
